July 1989: Community committee formed Friends of Burnett Community Library
February 1990: Burnett County Board announced funding available for county library planning
June 1990: County Board appointed committee to determine the feasibility of a library
November 1990: Former discount food store donated north of Siren at Highway 35/70 intersection
April 19, 1991: Grand Opening of the volunteer library with 3,000 books; dependent on donations
May 1991: First Bank of Wisconsin donated their old brick building to Webster Village for use as a library; became a municipal library
January 1992: Library opened in bank building after extensive shoring up of floor; card holders 200
October 1992: Grand Opening event; card holders grew rapidly 800+; by 2011, 3500
August 2004: Discussion of a new library begun by Friends of the Library
Summer 2005: Start of fund-raising campaign to expand Burnett Community Library
Summer 2006: Friends mailed brochure to all area residents & businesses requesting support and donations
Spring 2009: Larsen Chevrolet building available; donated by Terry Larsen; fundraising expanded
February 2011: “Wall-breaking” ceremony to mark beginning of Larsen building renovation
August 18, 2011: Library closed for “Big Move”
August 22, 2011: Library reopened in new building; name changed to Larsen Family Public Library
September 9, 2011: Grand Opening celebration; looking forward to many years of service to our Burnett County residents!
