Dawn Quigley is an author and educator. She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe, North Dakota. Her first book, Apple in the Middle, was nominated for the American Indian Youth Literature Award and the WILLA Literary Award.
Miscobineshii’s influence reaches out nationally. Her book “Miskobineshi, a Book of Memoirs,” details the life of Susan Eileen Skinaway (Miscobineshii’s English name). This book, along with a pair of her hand-made moccasins, is onsite at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. In 2018, Miscobineshii was asked to create moccasins for the Madeline Island Jingle Dress Dancer Project, a 12-foot statue on that island.
