In the library foyer, you will see the display from the Otis Taylor American Legion and Auxiliary celebrating 100 years of service to Veterans, Youth and the Community. The Otis Taylor Post was granted a temporary charter on October 3, 1919 and its final charter on Feb 12, 1930. The Post was named after Webster resident, Private Otis Taylor, who serviced his country in 1918. The Auxiliary was chartered in 1926 and its first Unit President was Elise J. Converse. The display depicts some of the WWI & WWII appeals to the community about creating a victory garden, single men please join us, do your part and purchase war bonds. There is a picture of the first Post Commander, Dr. George Converse in the display along with various military covers (hats) that show branches of the service.
